Summary
This study looks at whether chewing xylitol gum during pregnancy can change the bacteria in the mouth and vagina, reduce gum inflammation, and improve pregnancy outcomes. Researchers in Malawi will follow 80 pregnant women who chew the gum daily until delivery. They will also check the babies' development at 6 and 18 months old.
