Virtual reality goggles could make lung cancer surgery safer and more precise
NCT ID NCT07593872
First seen May 21, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a special headset (extended reality, or XR) can help surgeons plan the removal of cancerous lymph nodes in the neck of people with lung cancer. Ten patients will have their PET and CT scans combined into a 3D model that the surgeon views through the headset before surgery to plan the best incision and avoid important nerves and blood vessels. The goal is to see if this planning tool is safe and works well, not to cure the cancer itself.
