New MRI technique could reveal how lung scarring drugs really work

Summary

This study at Duke University is testing whether a special type of MRI (using xenon gas) can track changes in the lungs of people with interstitial lung disease (ILD) who are starting anti-fibrotic therapy. About 60 adults with progressive lung scarring will have MRI scans before starting treatment and again at 3, 6, and 12 months. The goal is to see if this MRI can measure how well the treatment is working, which could help doctors better manage the disease in the future.
