Video vs. brochure: which helps breast cancer patients decide on reconstruction?

NCT ID NCT07602374

First seen May 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests whether watching a video, reading a brochure, or doing both helps women feel more prepared and less anxious when choosing breast reconstruction after mastectomy. About 100 women will be randomly assigned to one of four groups: video only, brochure only, both, or no extra materials. Researchers will measure anxiety, decision readiness, and knowledge about reconstruction options.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could show which type of educational material helps patients feel more informed and less anxious before making a decision about breast reconstruction.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study focused on education, not a treatment. Results may not apply to all patients or hospitals, and the knowledge quiz was created by the authors, not a standard test.
