New drug combo tested to fight stubborn worm infections in kids

NCT ID NCT06188715

Summary

This study tested whether adding a drug called moxidectin to the standard treatment (albendazole) works better to cure whipworm and other intestinal worm infections in children aged 6-12. Researchers in Tanzania compared the two-drug combination to the standard single-drug treatment in 224 children. The main goal was to see if the combination led to more children being completely cleared of worm eggs in their stool after treatment.
