Scientists probe why common heart treatment fails in genetic condition

NCT ID NCT07454135

Summary

This study aims to understand why atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) is more common and harder to treat in people with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a condition where the heart muscle is abnormally thick. Researchers will study 40 adults with both conditions who are already scheduled for a standard heart procedure, using detailed heart scans and electrical measurements. The goal is to gather knowledge that could lead to better future treatments, not to test a new therapy on participants.
