Vibration therapy after botox shows promise for stroke recovery
NCT ID NCT07286435
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Sep 04, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests whether whole-body vibration therapy, given after a Botox injection, can reduce muscle tightness and improve balance in stroke survivors. Fifty participants with ankle spasticity will either receive vibration or a placebo for 4 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in muscle activity, balance, and walking ability.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- whole-body vibration therapy
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to improve walking and reduce muscle tightness after a stroke.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small early-stage trial with only 50 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The vibration is added after standard Botox treatment, so any benefit may be modest.
