First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study looks at how two types of protein—whey and egg white—affect blood ammonia levels in people with advanced liver disease caused by alcohol. High ammonia can cause brain fog and confusion. Fifty patients will try both proteins on separate days to see which one causes less ammonia rise. The goal is to help doctors recommend safer protein sources for liver patients.
