NCT ID NCT07299110

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at how two different proteins—whey and egg white—affect blood ammonia levels in people with advanced liver disease caused by alcohol. High ammonia can harm brain function. Fifty adults with cirrhosis will try each protein on separate days, and researchers will measure ammonia and thinking ability before and after. The goal is to find out which protein is safer and help guide better nutrition for liver patients.
