Can shedding pounds slow down your Cells' clock?
NCT ID NCT05903521
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 34 times
Summary
This study looked at whether weight-loss surgery can reverse a key sign of cell aging called telomere shortening. Telomeres are like protective caps on our DNA that get shorter as we age, and obesity can speed up that process. Researchers compared telomere length in people with severe obesity before and after surgery to see if rapid weight loss could help restore them. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
