Weight loss warning: new study aims to catch cancer sooner
NCT ID NCT05481697
First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looks at 1,000 adults aged 40-80 who have lost weight without trying. Participants will weigh themselves weekly using a smart scale. If they lose 5% or more of their body weight, they will get a special blood test (GRAIL Galleri) that can spot many types of cancer early. The goal is to see if combining weight tracking with this blood test helps doctors find cancer sooner, when it may be easier to treat.
