First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Sep 10, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looks at how many sets of weightlifting per week are best for building muscle strength and size in people aged 65 to 80. Participants will do either 6, 18, or 30 sets per week for 10 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in leg strength and muscle thickness to find the ideal weekly volume.

- What this could lead to
- If successful, this study could help define the optimal amount of weekly weightlifting for older adults to maintain or improve muscle strength and size.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 57 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It is not testing a drug or treatment for a disease.
