NCT ID NCT07566559
First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study is for people with locally advanced rectal cancer who are about to receive neoadjuvant therapy (treatment before surgery). Researchers will collect data from 869 participants, including imaging, gut bacteria, and blood tests, to build a model that identifies who can safely adopt a 'watch-and-wait' approach instead of immediate surgery. The goal is to control the tumor and preserve organ function, while also determining the best time for surgery if needed.
