Simple IV warmer could stop Post-C-Section chills for moms
NCT ID NCT03581721
Summary
This study tested if using a small device to warm IV fluids given during a scheduled C-section could prevent mothers from getting too cold after delivery. Low body temperature is common after spinal anesthesia for C-sections and can cause shivering, discomfort, and increase risks of other problems. Researchers compared warmed IV fluids to unwarmed fluids in 75 women to see if it reduced the rate of hypothermia when they arrived in recovery.
