Weight-Loss drug before heart procedure may keep rhythm steady for longer

NCT ID NCT07275697

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether taking semaglutide (Wegovy) before a standard heart procedure for atrial fibrillation (AF) can help prevent the abnormal heart rhythm from coming back. About 200 adults with AF and overweight or obesity will receive either standard care or semaglutide plus lifestyle advice before their first catheter ablation. The main goal is to see if the drug improves the chance of staying free of AF for at least 12 months after the procedure.
