Virtual reality calms nerves before eye surgery, study finds

NCT ID NCT07530120

First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looked at whether watching a video of the eye surgery process beforehand could reduce anxiety. 180 adults scheduled for outpatient eye surgery were split into three groups: one watched a 360° virtual reality video, one watched a standard 2D video, and one had no video. The goal was to see which approach helped patients feel calmer and less disoriented on the day of surgery.
