Virtual family visits fight ICU confusion

NCT ID NCT05525702

Summary

This study is testing whether a virtual reality system that connects ICU patients with their families can help reduce delirium, a state of severe confusion. Researchers will enroll 102 adults on breathing machines in the ICU to see if using the VR system lowers the number of days they experience delirium and improves other outcomes. The approach aims to ease patient distress by providing comforting family presence through technology.
