New vaginal surgery may lower brain pressure during hysterectomy

NCT ID NCT07250178

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looked at 66 women having a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) to compare two surgical methods: standard laparoscopic surgery and a newer technique called vNOTES (done through the vagina). The goal was to see if vNOTES causes less pressure on the brain during the operation, measured by ultrasound of the optic nerve. The researchers also checked blood pressure and heart rate to understand overall safety.
