Summary
This study is testing whether taking daily vitamin D3 or yeast beta-glucan supplements can help control blood sugar and lower the risk of heart disease in people with type 2 diabetes. The trial will include 2,500 adults aged 40 to 79 and will last 5 years, with 2 years of supplementation and 3 years of follow-up. The goal is to see if these simple, over-the-counter supplements can make a meaningful difference in managing diabetes and preventing complications.
