First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving pregnant mothers extra vitamin D can prevent asthma symptoms like wheezing in their children. About 600 mothers from a Danish asthma study took either a high dose (2400 IU) of vitamin D or a placebo daily from week 24 of pregnancy until one week after birth. Their children were then monitored for wheezing and other breathing problems. The goal is to find a simple way to reduce asthma risk early in life.
