This study tested whether giving vitamin C around the time of breast cancer surgery could help reduce pain. It involved 204 women undergoing mastectomy or lumpectomy. Researchers compared pain levels and opioid use between those who received vitamin C and those who did not, tracking pain for up to a year after surgery.
