Vitamin a levels in cord blood may predict preemie health risks

NCT ID NCT07296393

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study will measure vitamin A levels in the umbilical cord blood of 155 extremely premature babies (born before 32 weeks) to see if low levels are linked to serious health problems like lung disease, gut infection, bleeding in the brain, or death. The goal is to understand whether vitamin A status at birth can help identify babies at higher risk, so doctors can monitor them more closely.
