New tech aims to sharpen heart rhythm procedure

NCT ID NCT02681926

Summary

This study tested a new software tool (called VISITAG) designed to help doctors during a heart procedure called catheter ablation for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AFib). The tool automatically marks spots where the doctor applies energy, aiming to make the procedure more effective, safer, and faster. Researchers followed 200 patients in Italy to see if using this tool led to better long-term control of the irregular heartbeat and fewer complications.
