New training aims to retrain eyes for those with central vision loss

NCT ID NCT07577219

First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests whether 5 weeks of eye movement training with visual and sound feedback can help people with central vision loss use their peripheral vision more effectively. About 12 participants with bilateral central vision loss from macular degeneration will do eye tracking exercises using both eyes together. The goal is to see if this training improves eye movement control, which could lead to home-based vision rehabilitation using virtual reality.
