New blood test aims to catch dangerous viruses before they damage transplanted kidneys

NCT ID NCT07393594

Summary

This study follows 1,000 kidney transplant patients for one year to see if monthly blood tests can detect dangerous viruses early enough to prevent complications. Researchers will track CMV and BK virus levels along with other immune markers to identify patients at risk before they develop serious kidney damage or illness. The goal is to help doctors intervene sooner to protect transplanted kidneys from virus-related problems.
