First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested whether wearing virtual reality glasses during the surgical removal of impacted lower wisdom teeth can reduce dental anxiety and pain. Fifty adults who were anxious about the procedure were randomly assigned to have surgery with or without the VR headset. Researchers measured heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety levels before, during, and after the procedure to see if the VR distraction helped patients feel more comfortable.
