VR headset calms nerves and lowers blood pressure in clinic

NCT ID NCT06960057

First seen Nov 05, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested whether a 5-minute calming virtual reality (VR) experience could reduce blood pressure and anxiety in adults with suspected white coat hypertension (high blood pressure only in the doctor's office). 79 participants had their blood pressure and anxiety measured before and after the VR session. The goal was to see if VR could make clinic visits less stressful and provide more accurate blood pressure readings.
