Summary
This completed study tested whether immersive virtual reality can distract people and reduce their memory of events. Twenty healthy adults wore VR goggles and tried to memorize words while in a virtual world. Researchers measured how many words they recalled and how distracted they felt. The goal is to see if VR could one day be used to ease pain and anxiety during medical procedures without drugs.
