Bladder cancer staging gets a High-Tech upgrade with virtual histology MRI

NCT ID NCT04369560

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a new MRI technique that uses two contrast dyes to create a detailed image of the bladder wall, helping doctors determine the depth of bladder cancer before surgery. About 42 adults with bladder tumors will undergo this special MRI, and the results will be compared to standard tissue analysis after tumor removal. The goal is to see if this virtual biopsy can accurately stage cancer, potentially guiding better treatment decisions without needing invasive procedures.
