Summary
This study tested whether an enhanced support program could help veterans who smoke but weren't ready to quit. Researchers compared ongoing motivational support and counseling to standard yearly advice about quitting. They followed 502 veterans for two years to see which approach led to more people quitting smoking and using treatment services.
