What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Venetoclax and ASTX727 (a combination of cedazuridine and decitabine)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with high-risk MDS or CMML who haven't had therapy before, potentially improving remission rates.

What could go wrong

This is an early-phase trial with only 52 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Side effects from the drug combination could be serious, and it's not yet known if it works better than existing treatments.
