Pen and paper power: writing exercise eases breast cancer drug side effects

NCT ID NCT04651452

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests whether a simple writing exercise—reflecting on personal values—can help breast cancer patients manage side effects from hormone therapy and stick to their daily medication. About 250 women will be randomly assigned to either a values affirmation group or a reflective journaling group, writing one essay per month for six months. Researchers will track symptoms, stress, and medication adherence using electronic pill bottles and surveys.
