Zapping the ear to calm the brain? study probes depression link

NCT ID NCT04448327

Summary

This study aims to understand how a non-invasive device that stimulates a nerve in the ear affects brain activity and the body's stress response in people with major depression. Researchers will compare active stimulation to a sham (fake) treatment during a brain scan and stress test. The main goal is to see how the treatment works differently in men and women, and to measure changes in brain signals and heart rate patterns.
