First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested a non-invasive device that gently stimulates a nerve in the ear (taVNS) to see if it could improve thinking, sleep, and reduce inflammation in older adults with frailty. 80 people over age 60 without dementia took part, receiving either active or sham stimulation over two weeks alongside standard rehab. The goal was to see if the active group showed greater improvements in cognitive tests, sleep quality, and blood markers of inflammation.
