Scientists test ear device to rewire Brain's response to fear and reward
NCT ID NCT07476469
Summary
This study aims to understand how anxiety and anhedonia (loss of pleasure) affect how people learn from rewards, avoid threats, and make decisions. Researchers will test if a non-invasive device that stimulates a nerve in the ear (tVNS), combined with changes in hunger, can shift these behaviors. About 104 participants, including people with high anxiety, high anhedonia, both, and healthy controls, will complete online tasks and lab sessions using virtual reality and brain scans.
