New pill could change anemia care for dialysis patients

Summary
This study tests a new drug, vadadustat, taken three times a week, against the usual injected treatment for anemia in people with end-stage kidney disease on dialysis. About 350 adults will participate to see if the drug can safely keep hemoglobin levels in a healthy range. The goal is to offer a more convenient option for managing anemia.
