Could a Sit-Down MRI scan replace the PSA test for prostate cancer?

NCT ID NCT03474913

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether a new upright MRI machine can find prostate cancer as well as or better than current methods like the PSA blood test and standard MRI. About 550 men at risk for prostate cancer will get both types of MRI scans and answer questions about comfort. Researchers will compare the results to see if the upright MRI is a good screening tool.
