Blood test breakthrough could unlock secrets of POTS

NCT ID NCT03218761

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 37 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a blood test can measure how well the body clears a chemical called norepinephrine in people with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). POTS causes a rapid heart rate and other symptoms when standing. The test measures a substance called NET mRNA, which may be easier than older methods. Researchers will compare results from 200 people with and without POTS to see if the test works.
