Scientists hunt for the cause of 'Chemobrain' in breast cancer patients

NCT ID NCT05740787

First seen May 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026

Summary

This study aims to understand why some breast cancer patients experience 'chemobrain'—problems with memory and concentration after chemotherapy. Researchers will measure thinking skills, take blood samples, and perform brain scans before, during, and after treatment in 50 adults with HER2-negative breast cancer. They will look for links between brain inflammation (using iron as a marker) and changes in thinking ability. This is a pilot study to gather information, not to test a treatment.
