New hope for CLL patients: experimental drug shows promise in early trial
NCT ID NCT04163718
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tested an experimental drug called umbralisib in 12 people with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) who had not received treatment before. The goal was to see if the drug could shrink or control the cancer. Because the study was stopped early, results are limited, but some patients did see their disease improve. The drug is taken as a pill and aims to manage CLL long-term, not cure it.
