When to clamp the cord? new study compares timing methods

NCT ID NCT03844490

First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looked at 580 low-risk pregnant women and their newborns to see if waiting for the umbilical cord to stop pulsing before clamping is better than clamping within 1 to 3 minutes after birth. Researchers checked for jaundice in babies and measured their hemoglobin levels. The goal was to find the safest timing for both mother and child.
