Ultrasound may replace X-Rays for kids getting leg lengthening
NCT ID NCT07212049
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 32 times
Summary
This study tests whether ultrasound can accurately measure magnetic growing rods used to lengthen leg bones, as an alternative to standard X-rays. Ten patients aged 8 to 21 who are already having leg lengthening surgery will get both weekly X-rays and ultrasounds. If ultrasound works just as well, it could reduce radiation exposure and lower costs for these patients.
