Ultrasound may replace X-Rays for kids getting leg lengthening
NCT ID NCT07212049
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tests if ultrasound can measure the length of magnetic growing rods inside the leg bones as accurately as X-rays. Ten children and young adults (ages 8–21) who are having a leg lengthening procedure will get both weekly X-rays and ultrasounds. If ultrasound works well, it could offer a safer, cheaper way to track rod lengthening without radiation.
