Ultrasound may ditch X-Rays for feeding tube checks in ICUs
NCT ID NCT07376083
First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study will test if a bedside ultrasound can accurately confirm that a feeding tube is in the right place in intensive care unit patients, compared to the standard chest X-ray. Researchers will enroll 170 adults in the ICU who need a feeding tube. If ultrasound works well, it could mean faster checks and less radiation exposure for critically ill patients.
