Ultrasound may help decide when to remove feeding tubes
NCT ID NCT06877897
First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a neck ultrasound can be as good as a speech therapist's exam for deciding when to remove a feeding tube. About 150 adults who need a feeding tube after an illness will get both tests. Half will follow the ultrasound results and half will follow the therapist's advice. Researchers will track who gets the tube removed safely and how often problems like choking happen.
