Ultrasound vs. touch: which method makes bone marrow biopsies better?

NCT ID NCT05258357

First seen Nov 06, 2025 · Last updated May 26, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study tests whether using ultrasound to guide a bone marrow biopsy is better than the usual method of feeling for landmarks on the body. About 100 adult inpatients will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods. The goal is to see if ultrasound reduces pain, improves sample quality, and makes the procedure smoother.
