Ultrasound breakthrough: new way to tell apart leg swelling diseases

NCT ID NCT07489248

First seen Mar 27, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study uses different ultrasound techniques to find clear differences between lymphedema and lipedema, two chronic conditions that cause leg swelling and are often hard to tell apart. Researchers will compare tissue thickness, stiffness, and other features in 75 people (25 with lymphedema, 25 with lipedema, and 25 healthy). The goal is to create a reliable, non-invasive tool for accurate diagnosis, helping doctors choose the right treatment sooner.
