Sound waves may predict dialysis lifeline success

NCT ID NCT04141358

First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looked at whether special ultrasound tests can predict if a surgically created blood vessel connection (called an arteriovenous fistula or AVF) will work well for dialysis in people with end-stage kidney disease. Researchers measured artery stiffness and blood flow in 76 adults. The goal was to find early clues about which fistulas might fail, so doctors can plan better.
