New scan could give doctors a clearer picture of cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT07436364

Summary

This small pilot study is testing whether a special type of ultrasound scan, called contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), can help doctors better monitor how a soft tissue sarcoma tumor responds to radiation treatment given before surgery. The study will enroll 10 adult patients who are already scheduled to receive this type of radiation. Researchers will perform the special ultrasound scan three times during treatment to see if it can accurately show changes in the tumor's blood flow and internal pressure, which may predict how well the radiation is working.
