Summary

This study compared two types of ultrasound-guided nerve blocks (caudal block and dorsal penile block) to control pain after hypospadias repair in 62 boys aged 1-6 years. The main goal was to see how long it took before children needed extra pain medicine. The results could help doctors choose the best pain relief method for this surgery.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Caudal block or dorsal penile nerve block (local anesthetic injection)
What this could lead to
If one block proves better, it could improve pain control after hypospadias surgery in young children.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial (62 children) comparing two established techniques. Results may not apply to other surgeries or age groups.
